In Minecraft, players can now breed frogs. They can be found in swamp biomes and are generally quite peaceful. However, on occasion, they may decide to attack other mobs in the game.
When it comes to looting, frogs aren’t particularly valuable. They only drop experience orbs when they’re defeated, so don’t expect to find any other useful items.
Nevertheless, these adorable amphibians are known for their carefree behaviour, often jumping around aimlessly and reaching heights of up to 8 blocks. They seem to have a particular fondness for lily pads and big drip leaves, but they won’t be able to hop onto honey blocks.
If you want to keep frogs around, make sure you have plenty of suitable surfaces for them to jump on. And if you’re really taken with these little creatures, you can even breed them! Here’s how.
Where can you find frogs in Minecraft?
Frogs can be found in Minecraft in two types of biomes: Swamps and Mangrove Swamps.
Depending on the biome, they can appear in three different colors.
- Orange-colored “Temperate” frogs will spawn in a variety of biomes including forests, plains, rivers, caves, and oceans.
- Grey-colored “Warm” frogs can be found in biomes such as jungles, deserts, savannas, and the Nether.
- Dark green-colored “Cold” frogs spawn in frozen biomes like snowy plains, frozen oceans, and the End.
How to breed frogs in Minecraft?
To breed frogs in Minecraft, you must use slimeballs to lure them. If you give slimeballs to two adult frogs within 6 blocks of each other, they will mate and the female frog will become pregnant.
Once pregnant, the frog will look for a water block with at least one adjacent water block to lay frogspawn.
The frogspawn will hatch into tadpoles, which will eventually grow into frogs.
Frogs in Minecraft are also useful for fighting small slimes and magma cubes. They use their tongues to attack and can make small slime drop slimeballs when defeated.
Additionally, when fighting small magma cubes, frogs will leave behind a special block of light, the color of which depends on the color of the frog. If a frog is fighting a magma cube, it will also gain a speed boost.
