The thirteenth installment of the hit franchise by Ubisoft, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is one of the most anticipated games of 2023.
It will be based on 9th-century Baghdad during the period of the Anarchy at Samarra. Although a short map, similar to Constantinople in Revelations, the game’s linear storytelling and gameplay will be the highlight.
The protagonist is Basim Ibn Ishaq, an orphan, who starts as a thief but transforms into a Master Assassin. Joining the Hidden Ones is the fuel for his epic journey in the streets of Baghdad, where he collects vital clues and plots elaborate assassinations. Similar to the classic Assassin’s Creed games, the gameplay will focus more on stealth rather than RPG.
Basim will have the traditional Assassin loadout in AC Mirage, including throwing knives, bombs, swords, and the fan-favorite Hidden Blade.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage release date & pre-orders
According to Ubisoft’s official website, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be released on October 5, 2023. It will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox, and PC. Currently in the pre-order phase, it is priced at €49,99 (or the price equivalent to your currency).
Those who pre-order Assassin’s Creed Mirage will get an exclusive quest, The Forty Thieves. The title is an obvious play on the children’s book ‘Alibaba and the Forty Thieves.’ The quest will require Basim to “help Ali Baba’s daughter to fight the 40 Thieves in this new take on the tale”, as reported by the Fandom page.
Deluxe edition of Assassin’s Creed Mirage will award the player with an exclusive Prince of Persia armor set, a weapons set, and an eagle and a mount skin. Prices are at € 59,99.
Characters in Assassin’s Creed Mirage
There will be four main characters in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. The game description also mentions that the players will encounter historical figures that brought about the Golden Age of Baghdad, similar to Niccolo Machiavelli and Leonardo Da Vinci in the Ezio trilogy.
- Basim: Formerly a thief, Basim uses his stealth, cunning, and reflexes to be a Master Assassin and work for a greater purpose.
- Roshan: Roshan takes Basim under her wing as a member of the Assassins. She is the protagonist’s mentor. “Nothing is true everything is permitted.”
- Nehal: Basim’s friend. She had a troubled childhood similar to Basim. Her stubbornness and determination are seen in her need to protect and help Basim.
- Ali: Leader of the Zanj rebellion and a staunch opposer of the caliphate. He works alongside the Hidden Ones but believes that freedom has no constraints.
Assassin’s Creed will succeed the global hit Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It remains to be seen the responses to Basim’s story in Baghdad.
