Dutch company Team Reptile takes center stage with its exciting Jet Set Radio-esque game, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk!, widely recognized as one of the most eagerly anticipated indie games of 2023.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk was released for Nintendo Switch and Steam on August 18th, 2023. Team Reptile has revealed that Cyberfunk will also be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and Xbox One on September 1st, 2023. It has also been revealed that the pricing of Bomb Rush Cyberfunk will be $39.99 USD.
At first appearance, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk appears to be a groovy and lighthearted mash-up of numerous genres, heavily influenced by Sega’s Jet Set Radio. Team Reptile presents a colorful vision of the game, in which “self-styled graffiti crews equipped with personal boostpacks” fight for control of the streets.
Cyberfunk is a vivid “funky style” game with people in jumpsuits with machine heads, colorful graffiti strewn around the future cityscape, and flamboyant dance-offs praised by an active audience. Most notably, the game features seamless movement across the streets and alleyways, with characters flying and maneuvering with flamboyant accuracy utilizing skateboards, rollerblades, and boost packs.
The advertising trailers, on the other hand, add a dimension of mystery and eeriness to the game. A six-eyed figure towering over the protagonist, intimidating and faceless, amid the suffocating presence of militarized police.
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk was supposed to be released last year. The creators, however, decided to postpone the game’s release, noting, “We are convinced that releasing the game this year [2022] will not take it to a level where we would be personally satisfied with.”
