Old Friends, New Beginnings is a time research quest exclusive to European Pokemon Go players. It was released on May 30, 2023, and has made previous appearances when new languages like Spanish were added.
It is a two-step timed research that will allow you to encounter Charmander, Squirtle, Pikachu, and Bulbasaur. The rewards include Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Pikachu, Mega Energy, and candy.

- Earn 12 hearts with your partner – Bulbasaur
- Earn 3000 XP – Charmander

Trainers can get twice as many hearts from their buddies during this event. Trainers in Europe can claim Time Research quests by logging into the game from May 30 – June 28, 2023.
