The Underdark is one of the most intriguing regions in Baldur’s Gate 3, and there are several ways to enter. On the surface, the map in Baldur’s Gate 3 may appear to be little, but as you explore more, you can discover a completely separate world beneath the surface of the main map. The Underdark is a mystical and vividly colored realm with its own residents, scenery, and questlines.
How to get into the Underdark in Baldur’s Gate 3
There are four entrances into the Underdark that we’ve found in Baldur’s Gate 3:
The Whispering Depths
There is a well in the Blighted Village from which you can access the Whispering Depths, a subterranean cave. There is a vast room within the Whispering Depths where you will face a swarm of Phase Spiders (along with a particularly nasty monster). In the center of this room lies a massive hole, and those who perform the Feather Fall spell can leap into it to reach the Underdark.
The Defiled Temple
During Act 1, you’ll visit the Defiled Temple within the Goblin Camp to find the Druid Halsin. Follow the meandering way through the Defiled Temple to a set of ladders that will take you to the Underdark.
This is the first entry that does not need the Feather Fall spell, hence it is probable that many people will utilize it to enter the Underdark.
Riverside Teahouse
The Sunlit Wetlands are located south of the Blighted Village and lead to a mystery villa in the marsh. The Riverside Teahouse home has several mysteries, including an underground hideaway that leads down through cave tunnels.
At the bottom is a cage that hangs over a pit, identical to the one found in the Whispering Depths dungeon. If you can descend the pit, say with a Feather tumble spell, you’ll tumble into the Underdark.
Zhentarim Hideout
There is a building at Waukeen’s Rest with containers blocking the entrance. If you move the boxes and enter the structure, you’ll discover a hidden Zhentarim Hideout, the lair of a Faerun-wide secret group.
Continue down and make a note of any Perception tests that your party performs. There will be a Perception test along one of the walls, with those who pass revealing a phony door. Pass through the bogus door to locate an elevator that will take you far, deep into the Underdark.
That’s how to get to Underdark in Baldur’s Gate 3 as I’ll see you in the next guide.
