The locales in Baldur’s Gate 3 many at times aren’t always obvious. Many of them need you or your characters to pay attention to minute details, such as the Blighted Village cellar with a mystery bookshelf.
You can find the cellar on your own while exploring the Blighted Village and battling with the goblins there, or you can be guided there by the Apprentice’s Journal, which can be discovered in a backpack inside the Whispering Depths.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Blighted Village Bookcase Cellar
The Whispering Depths can be reached by clicking on the well inside the Blighted Village. The quest Search the Cellar begins with the discovery of the journal.
Look for a two-story structure with shabby wooden doors to get to the BG3 Blighted Village bookshelf and the cellar that houses it. Open them, then enter and interact with the hatch. You’ve arrived at the Blighted Village basement in Baldur’s Gate 3. You should also have no problem locating the bookcase.
When your character is near it, he’ll roll for passive investigation checks. If they are effective, they will leave markings on the side. Trying to get party members to push it doesn’t appear to be working, at least not right now. Find the boxes placed up on the left to persuade the Baldur’s Gate 3 Blighted Village bookshelf to shift and expose what the cellar truly holds.
It’s up to you whether you want to harness your inner barbarian and break them or move them aside. You’ll find a lever behind them either way. When you interact with the bookshelf, it will shift, revealing a door.
How to find the Cellar in Baldur’s Gate 3
If you’ve heard of the cellar to search in Baldur’s Gate 3 but aren’t sure where to go, it’s inside the Apothecary shop, which is the one with all the plants and bottles, immediately to the left as you approach the Blighted Village.
A wooden hatch is located behind the counter, as depicted in the image above, at coordinates X:32 Y:379. Simply interact with it to drop down and locate the first area with the aforementioned bookcase.
