Path Of Exile 2 Closed Beta on June 7th 2024

The news was announced at ExileCon annual event, where the developers also showed off the game as it focused on the monk and the sorceress classes and it looks to be shaping up very well indeed. As for the official end date of POE2, there’s no detailed information from game director Jonathan Rogers.

The development team also revealed that POE2 will be its own separate game to POE1 when released, reasons being that the game’s scope has grown so large in the years since it was announced in 2019.

In the past, Path of Exile 2 was going to be a huge expansion to the original game, rather than a single sequel, but that’s no longer the case. The good news, though, is that GGG will continue to support both games simultaneously.

Until the closed beta date, there are still going to be POE1 expansions coming out every three months and many of those expansions will also be present in Path of Exile 2, he confirms.

“We’re going to go through all of the expansions and revamp it using Path of Exile 2 effects and so on, so a lot of that stuff will carry on to Path of Exile 2,” Rogers continues.

“But anything that doesn’t belong there for some reason, will be taken off. By default things will stay the same, but if we have a compelling reason to change it, then we will change it if we need to.”

I’m personally quite excited for the beta version, especially after watching the new trailer/gameplay that was released. I’m particularly keen to get my hands on the new Monk class, as the combination of his staff alongside spells will be an amazing option for me in the game.
