Moltres first appeared as a raid boss in November 2021. Its last appearance was on July 14, 2022, and it disappeared after a week. In a piece of good news, the radiant flame bird will return to raids a bit early this year.

Moltres will be catchable in a 5-star raid from July 6, 2023, to July 13, 2023, beginning and ending at 10 A.M Local Time. After defeating the raid boss, there’s a small chance that a Shiny Moltres will get spawned.

A minimum of four players are recommended to fight the raid boss since it has a CP of 45,609. Moltres can be caught in the following CP ranges.

  • 1896 – 1980 (Level 20, no weather boost)
  • 2370 – 2475 (Level 25, Sunny or Windy weather boost)

Weaknesses of a Moltres in Pokemon Go

Due to its dual Fire and Flying type, Moltres takes 2x Super Effective damage from Rock-type moves. Rock Slide, Stone Edge, or Ancient Power shall do the trick.

It also takes Super Effective damage from Water since it is a Flame Pokemon and Electric-type moves due to its Flying abilities. Surf, Water Pulse, Discharge, Thunderbolt, etc, should be the last resort if a player doesn’t have a strong Rock move.

Below is a list of Pokemon and Movesets that can counter Moltres strength and speed in Pokemon Go.

  • Aerodactyl: Rock Throw and Rock Slide
  • Ampharos: Volt Switch and Power Gem
  • Blastoise: Water Gun and Hydro Cannon
  • Archeops: Wing Attack and Ancient Power
  • Nihilego: Acid and Rock Slide
