Pokemon TCG Obsidian Flames: Release Date, Charizard Ex, Tera types and more

The release date for Pokémon TCG Obsidian Flames is August 11, 2023. Ruler of the Black Flame (Japanese version) will debut in Japan sooner on July 28, and the Traditional Chinese will release on August 11. Pre-orders are currently being accepted at a number of places, including numerous local gaming stores (FLGS).

Charizard ex (Darkness), Tyranitar ex (Lightning), and Eiscue ex (Fire) are all making a debut in this expansion. Due to the Terastallization phenomenon, Charizard ex will be a Dark Tera-type Pokémon with a crystal-like appearance.  Attacks by fire will be expensive. As a Darkness card, fire attacks will have a cost and it will be vulnerable to the Grass-type.

The number of meta-relevant cards in The Obsidian Flames is lower than in other releases. Additionally, the Paldea Evolved collection had a lot more Secret Illustration Rare and Illustration Rare cards, which may affect how popular the set is as a whole.

The Tera ex card variations will add a fresh element to the game with exciting new dynamic for the tabletop game and stunning new artwork and a subtle connection to the Scarlet & Violet video game. Follow Gaminstants for the latest Pokémon news!
