Destiny 2 has several weapons options for the guardians to use against enemies. The weapons have categories like Kinetic, Energy Weapons, and Power weapons. All of them have their specific features.

Kinetic Weapons in Destiny 2
Kinetic weapons sit in the kinetic slot and do not have an elemental associated with them. Unlike energy and heavy weapons, kinetic weapons cannot deal with elemental damage.
Kinetic weapons could be better while dealing with shielded enemies, but kinetic weapons do 10% more damage to unshielded enemies than energy weapons in PvE.
To determine whether a weapon sits in an energy or kinetic slot by looking at its icon orientation. Kinetic weapons point to the left. Whereas energy weapons point to the right.

Kinetic VS Energy Weapons

Power weapons go in the third slot and are only for heavy weapons that are purple brick ammo
Primary Weapons are weapons that have infinite ammo. They can be both kinetic or energy weapons, and they have a white box with a single bullet symbol next to the weapon type to show they are primary weapons
Special Weapons These weapons use green brick ammo and are generally stronger than primary weapons. They can be both kinetic and energetic. They have a green box with two bullets in it symbol next to the weapon type to show they are special
Heavy Weapons have purple boxes with three bullets to show they are heavy and only go in the power slot.

The game’s central concept is to allow the players to be guardians who can utilize weaponry and have special powers alongside other guardians.
