The Primal forms of Kyogre and Groudon were available in Tier-5 Raids during the Pokemon Go Fest Global on August 26 and August 27. Trainers all over the world hit the Gyms to capture the beasts and also collect energy to unlock their Primal forms. Here is everything to know about Primal Reversion in Pokemon Go.
Both Kyogre and Groudon need 400 Primal Energy for their more powerful form. Their Combat Power shoots up to at least 1000, with both possessing 4652 CP limits, making them ideal combatants in Master League and Gym Battles. Primal Reversion in Pokemon Go lasts 8 hours and boosts certain types of Pokemon and weather bonuses.
Primal Reversion is similar to Mega Evolution in Pokemon Go
Similar to Mega Evolution, the more a trainer uses Primal Reversion on either Kyogyre or Groudon, the better their Primal Levels become. Level Two Primal Level allows trainers to activate Primal Reversion for free, i.e., it does not cost Primal Energy. You can earn Primal Energy by defeating a Raid Pokemon that has undergone Primal Reversion or by completing specific research tasks.
When a Pokemon undergoes Primal Reversion for the first time, it will require significantly less energy to transform in the future. Bonuses will be unlocked based on the Pokemon’s Primal Level. These bonuses affect your gameplay in a variety of ways.
Benefits of Primal Reversion in Pokemon Go
Upon using Primal Reversion on Groudon or Kyogre, the following bonuses will be activated:-
- Raids: Pokemon that have undergone Primal Reversion will boost the attacks of all the remaining Pokemon on the battlefield. Additionally, the attack boost stacks with the weather boost bought by Kyogre or Groudon. For example, a Water-type attack will be boosted by Primal Kyogre and also the Rainy weather bought by it.
- Gym Battling: Similar to Raids, Primal Pokemon can boost the attacks of fellow attacking Pokemon targeting a Gym. Their attacks get further boosted if they use the type of attack which is similar to Kyogre’s typing (Water) or Groudon’s typing (Ground). Unfortunately, Primal forms cannot be used to defend Gyms.
- Buddy: Primal Groudon or Primal Kyogre can be set as Buddies to obtain their respective Candy. When made Best Buddy, their Buddy CP boost stacks with the Primal Reversion CP boost in Pokemon Go. Master League trainers take note.
Trainers can only collect 9,999 Primal Energy per Pokemon species. Once this limit is crossed, you will not receive Primal Energy after defeating a Primal Raid Boss.
