GTA Online has been around for around 10 years and is still one of the most sought-after games in the gaming community. A feature like crossplay allows gamers to play with each other on different consoles.
The next-generation version of GTA does not allow you to play with PS4 players. However, you can still play with your PS4 friends by following the steps below.
- Go to your PS5 Homescreen
- Click on the 3 dot icon on the right
- Click on “Select Version”.
Here you will be able to select the PS5 and PS4 versions. The PS4 version will allow you to play PS4 players from your PS5. However, the data will not be saved, and you cannot transfer it between the two versions.
If you are going to play more with your PS4 friends, it is recommended not to migrate your character over to the new version. Leave it as is and start a new character overall.
When the PS5 was launched, Rockstar allowed users to update their game data and transfer it to the newer console generation.
Many PS4 players cross-progressed their game versions to the PS5. When you cross-progress the data, you are playing the PS4 version of that game on the PS5.
Will GTA Online Ever get Cross-Platform Play?
Some Grand Theft Auto fans hoped that crossplay would come with the release of the Expanded & Enhanced Remaster of GTA V, but something else will likely happen.
Since the game is now being released worldwide, this was probably the last chance Rockstar had to add cross-platform play. Now that Rockstar is working on GTA 6, crossplay is unlikely to be added to GTA Online.
