The Hogwarts Legacy game involves plenty of tropes, including a gear/loot system that requires you to constantly change your outfit and be able to upgrade it the way you want if you want the best stats on the game for your battles.

This gear system is linked to getting lots of flashy new cosmetics, such as robes, and includes a unique trait system. This trait system allows your gear an additional and specific combat perk.

How do you unlock all traits in Hogwarts Legacy?

To use traits, you must get the Trait Recipes throughout the game some can be earned from combat challenges, but there is an easier way: Bandit Camps.

They have a collection Chest that will always have a trait recipe. The trait is generated at random. After you get the trait recipe, the crafting materials will vary depending on the Tier.

  1. For Tier I, you will need 1 Pufferskin Fur. 
  2. For Tier II, you will need 1 Diricawl Feather. 
  3. For Tier III, you will need 1 Kneazle Fur.

How To Apply Traits To The Gears In Hogwarts Legacy?

The Gear Trait is a feature that will provide your wizard with an additional bonus and base defense and offense scaling. These Traits in your gears will make your armaments significantly more powerful.

To add a trait to your gear, all you have to do is interact with the Loom and pick up your item, Once you can see the item card, just select “choose trait,” which will bring up a list of Traits you have unlocked organized by level and whether they’re offensive, defensive, deal, or with Ancient Magic.

You can select from three levels of traits, but also keep in mind that there are only certain types of gears to which level two or three traits can be applied. 

  • Purple gear can have up to level two traits 
  • Gold is the only one that you can add up to level three of traits

Once you have selected the trait, you can apply it to your gear. And this is how you can add traits to your gears in Hogwarts Legacy

Can you remove traits from gear in Hogwarts Legacy?

Now that you know how to apply Traits to your gears and make them significantly more powerful, you must be wondering whether you can remove the Traits from your Gears. 

Unfortunately, the Hogwarts Legacy does not allow you to remove an equipped trait and refund the invested resources after the traits have been applied to any gear yet!

However, they have the option for you to replace the old trait you have used with a new one. Traits are not any item that you can acquire. Instead, they are a discoverable recipe you can craft once you have unlocked the Enchanted Loom.

How To Upgrade Gear in Hogwarts Legacy?

Upgrading your gear might be very simple at the beginning of the game. Still, as you progress and want to keep the equipment you like the most throughout the game.

You have to upgrade your existing gear after you have completed The Helm of Urkotmain quest and then “The Elf, the Nab-sack, and the Loom” quest in the room of requirement so you can unlock the Room of Requirement and the Enchanted Loom where you can upgrade your gear.

After which, you will be able to conjure the Enchanted Loom and place it wherever you want to in the Room of Requirement; now, all you simply have to do is interact with the Enchanted Loom and select the gear to be upgraded.

Once the gear has upgraded, it will enhance the stats from their previous status; for example, gear that originally buffed offense will now receive a defense boost, and vice versa.
