Forbidden Forest
You’ll find a set of butterflies in the Forbidden Forest. You must travel to Jackdaw’s floo flame and head east past the Merlin trial in the forest.
You’ll find the butterflies near a small bandit camp. Following them across the wooden bridge, you’ll find a chest close to the ruined house.
Hogsmeade Valley
There is a total of 4 Butterfly chests located in Hogsmeade Vally. One of the top Hogwarts Legacy butterfly locations is Hogsmeade Valley.
Travel to the East Hogsmeade Valley floo flame and head to the opposite cliffs located to the south. You’ll find the butterflies swarm, and they’ll lead you to a chest near a Merlin Trial.
North Hogwarts
This is one of the Hogwarts Legacy butterfly locations with two types of butterflies. You’ll find the first in the Follow the Butterflies side quest and the second swarm west of the East North Hogwarts floo flame. Both swarms of butterflies will lead you to treasure chests.
South Hogwarts
You’ll also find two groups of butterflies in South Hogwarts. While the first group is located south of the Mooncalf Den floo flame, the second set is quite close to the Aranshire floo flame. They’ll each lead you to a collection chest nearby.
Hogwarts Valley
There are three butterfly chests in this location. Therefore, you need to find three groups of butterflies. The first group can be found east of the Central Hogwarts Valley Floo Flame.
On the other hand, the second set is close to the ruins west of the Keenbridge floo flame.
The third group is east of the Keenbridge floo flame, and they’ll all lead you to a nearby chest.
Feldcroft Region

The first is in North Feldcroft floo flam, and the second set is southeast of the Feldcroft Catacomb floo flame.
Poidsear Coast

Clagmar Coast
The final butterfly location is at the Clagmar Coast, northwest of the Clagmar Castle Floo Flame.
