How To Change Difficulty In Remnant 2

Remnant II is intended to be a difficult game regardless of the difficulty with which you begin your journey.

However, as you explore the deadly biomes of this Souls-like adventure, you may discover that things are either too simple or too difficult for you, pushing you to desire to alter things around.

If this is the case, we have both good and bad news concerning altering the difficulty, so keep reading to find out more.

How to change the difficulty level in Remnant 2

To adjust the difficulty level in Remnant 2, you must travel to Ward 13 and find the world stone, as you cannot change it through the menu. Instead, use the world stone to access the world map, then pick ‘world settings,’ ‘Reroll campaign,’ and your new difficulty.

Before you modify the difficulty, keep in mind that rerolling your campaign cancels your progress and sends you back to the beginning of a fresh planet pick. When you change difficulties, your worlds and RNG are reset, but don’t worry, you keep your character’s Remnant 2 weapons and equipment.

Remnant 2 difficulty levels

While there are four difficulty levels, as previously stated, there are only three to choose from at first, with the fourth – and most difficult – unlocked once you complete the game on any of the other difficulties (though we wouldn’t recommend going straight from Survivor to Apocalypse unless you want to throw your keyboard out the window).

Survivor

Survivor difficulty is “a solid starting point for most players”, and is, as described by principal designer Ben Cureton, “the core experience”. No ‘easy mode’ here then

Veteran

Veteran is the next level up from Survivor, and it is defined as “a more demanding experience with tougher and deadlier enemies” in-game. If you are an experienced Remnant fan, you should consider Veteran – but before you do, make sure you understand the ramifications of altering difficulty.

Nightmare

If you’ve played a lot of Remnant before, Nightmare could be a good place to start, although we still urge you to start at Veteran level. Nightmare is an appropriately titled nasty guy who is “ruthlessly” tough. This is likely to be a level you progress to after a few hours in Veteran mode.

Apocalypse

Apocalypse mode is only available to those who have completed the game on any other difficulty, you can’t access this difficulty without some prior experience.

That’s how to change difficulty in Remnant 2 as I’ll see you in the next guide.
