Mega Gyarados Raid Pokemon Go: Stats, Counters and Weaknesses

The third evolution of Magikarp is available in the Gyms and it does more than just splash around. Mega Gyarados Raid in Pokemon Go will span from August 4 to August 16 probably in celebration of the Go Fest 2023 in Osaka due to its similarities with the mythical Japanese dragon, Ryu.

Mega Gyarados is Cresselia’s anti-thesis, who will be a part of the Tier 5 Raids for the next two weeks. It boasts a powerful Dark-type moveset with access to Bite and Crunch along with Dragon- and Water-type attacks. As such, Gyarados is a great counter to the likes of Dragonite, Swampert, and Charizard in the Ultra League.

Here is everything to know about the Mega Gyarados Raid in Pokemon Go.

Is there a Shiny Gyarados in Pokemon Go?

Shiny Gyarados is a prized possession in Pokemon Go.  It can be obtained via Raids or in the wild although the spawn rates of the beast are considerably low. The odds of getting a shiny in the Raids are usually 5% or 1 in every 20 chances.

If Magikarp’s evolution wasn’t ghastly enough, Shiny Gyarados has been given a red skin that substantially separates it from the original blue one. Its light blue mustache also changes to white to complement its similar-colored scales.
