Pokemon Go Spotlight Hour: Rufflet stats and Shiny Guide

Rufflet is going to feature in Pokemon Go’s first Spotlight Hour in July 2023. Introduced in Generation 5, the dual Normal and Flying type Pokemon debuted in Pokemon Black and White in the episode Unrest at the Nursery!

It has since been a favourite of trainers as it develops a versatile moveset including Fighting, Fire, Rock, and Steel.

Pokemon Go Rufflet Spotlight Hours

Pokemon Go Rufflet

The next weekly Pokemon Go Spotlight Hour will be on July 4, beginning at 6 P.M. and ending at 7 P.M. Local Time. During this event, Rufflet will have an increased spawn rate and the event bonus includes 2x Stardust for catching Pokémon. Shiny Rufflet can also be obtained during the 60-minute Spotlight Hour.

Rufflet’s evolution, Braviary, has been often compared to America’s national bird, which might be the reason why it is headlining the U.S. Independence Day. Prioritize evolving the Unova-region Pokemon since Braviary is a formidable pick in mid- and high-tier Raids as well as Great League battles.

Shiny Rufflet in Pokemon Go: Appearance & Spawn Rate

Rufflet is an avian, Eaglet Pokemon with a blue body. A white plume of feathers is on the top of its head with a red-and-white strand protruding from the center of its forehead. It has two claws with black nails.

A Shiny Rufflet is not much different from the normal version, except that it has a brown body and nails. The brown color is transmitted to Shiny Braviary. Moreover, Shiny Braviary has blue and brown wings instead of the usual red and dark blue.

The average odds of catching a Shiny Pokemon is 1/500. This is bound to decrease during the Pokemon Go Spotlight Hour: Rufflet. Previously during events, the eaglet had a 1/180 to be shiny. Catch as many wild spawns in the Spotlight Hour to increase the chances of encountering a Shiny Rufflet.

Recommended techniques to catch Shiny Rufflet during Spotlight Hour

Rufflet won’t be appearing in Raids and isn’t scheduled to be part of any Special Research missions. The only method to capture a Shiny version is by planned hunts. Make sure to have plenty of Pokeballs, Lure Modules, and Incense in the inventory.

Thanks to Pokemon Go’s Weather Boost feature, trainers can camp in a certain area. Since it’s a Flying-type, Rufflet’s spawn rate increases in Partly Cloudy and Windy weather. Locate one spot and use a Lure Module on a Pokestop to attract nearby Pokemon. This is the go-to method for capturing Shinies.

Incense can also be used to attract a specific type of Pokemon. Each item can be found in the Shop although they are also obtainable as Research rewards. Stack Weather Boost, Incense, and Lure effects to maximize the chances of catching a Shiny Rufflet.

Rufflet stats and moves in Pokemon Go

Rufflet in Pokemon Go has a base ATK of 150, Defense 97, and Stamina 172, with a max HP of 147. Its Quick moves are limited to Air-types such as Peck and Wing Attack. It can learn Aerial Ace, Brave Bird, and Rock Tomb as Charged Moves.

Evolving a Rufflet into Braviary with 50 Candy is worth the investment. A solid PvP and Raid attacker, Braviary could learn Heat Wave (Fire), Rock Slide (Rock), Close Combat (Fighting), and Brave Bird (Flying). Combine any of the Charged Moves with Steel Wing and you have an all-rounder in the party.

Note that Braviary is resistant to Bug, Grass, Ground, and Ghost-types but vulnerable to Rock, Electric, and Ice. It should not be pitted against the likes of Articuno, Gigalith, Tyrantum, and Jolteon Pokemon commonly used by trainers in the Master League.
