Destiny 2: How To Get Exotic Cipher?

Exotic Ciphers are a relatively new addition to the game in the seasons of arrival. Exotic Ciphers are needed to purchase most of Destiny 2’s Exotic Weapons, so they are precious in the game, and players should get their hands on them.

You can stock up on them by completing some tasks. Calling Exotic Ciphers important could be a mere understatement. Newer Guardians in the game will spend these Ciphers more to stock up on their Exotic Weapons.

One thing about Exotic Weapons is you can carry only one Exotic Weapon at a time, so be sure and think carefully before spending your Exotic Cipher on these weapons in Destiny 2; so let’s go over the ways that you can earn Exotic Ciphers in Destiny 2

What Are Exotic Ciphers?

Exotic Ciphers are a rare currency that allows you to purchase Exotic weapons and armor from various stores in the game: Destiny 2. You can currently only hold one exotic weapon at a time, but that will soon increase to five in season 21 (season of the Deep).

What’s the fastest way to get an Exotic Cipher in Destiny 2?

Exotic Ciphoers are available as a weekly quest from Xur. Xur is a particular vendor who only appears between Friday and Tuesday. At rest on Friday, Xur will spawn in one of these three locations

  • Nessus
  • The EDZ
  • The Tower

Xur also carries a few Exotic and legendary goods with him.

To get Exotic Ciphera, you have to first go to the second page of his inventory and pick up a quest called “Xenology” This quest requires you to complete 21 playlist activities, strikes, gambits, or Crucible to obtain Exotic Cipher free of charge.

Keep in mind that playing with clanmates improves your progress in this quest. The quest is available for you to pick up every week, but only once a week.

How To Get Exotic Ciphers Without Xur?

There are two ways apart from participating in the Xenology quest to get Exotic Ciphers.

Season Pass

Once you reach rank 55 in the free track of the Season Pass, it grants you an Exotic Cipher. You do not need to purchase the current season.

You will get one when you reach level 55. So save this Exotic Cipher when required, as you get only one in the season pass. Leaving this in your Season Pass will give you a second Exotic Cipher, which you can claim anytime.

Forsaken Ciphers

Forsaken Ciphers are much rarer than the standard Exotic Ciphers. You get three Forsaken Ciphers when purchasing the forsaken Pack DLC in Destiny 2. These Ciphers differ from the standard version because you can only use these on Exotic weapons from the Forsaken expansion.

Raid Exotics from that pack will still require you to complete the spoils of conquest. You have to go to the Exotic Kiosk at the Tower to claim your Ciphers after you have purchased them.
