The Bubble Frog Pokemon, Froakie, has been announced by Pokemon Go to be the headliner for August 2023’s first Community Day. Typically in these events, the said Pokemon has a high spawn rate in the wild while there are also some unique bonuses attached to it.
Froakie Community Day Classic will begin on August 13, 2023, from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Local Time. Trainers can evolve the Water-type Pokemon to Frogadier by feeding it 25 Candy after which it takes 100 Candy to evolve into the all-powerful Greyninja. The Ninja-type Pokemon will also be able to learn two new moves during the event.
Greyninja can now learn Hydro Cannon and Water Shuriken
Trainers that evolve their Frogadier during the event or five hours after, i.e., till 7 P.M. Local Time, will get a Greyninja that has learned the Hydro Cannon Charged Attack. It requires 50 energy to inflict a whopping 80 attack damage in trainer battles and 90 damage in Gyms and Raids.
Complementing the Water-type Attack will be the debut of Water Shuriken Quick Move. This will massively change the meta system, with many trainers saying goodbye to Swampert as their main PvP Water-type specialist. Water Shuriken will do 6 damage in trainer battles and 10 damage in Gyms and Raids.
Due to the Water-type build, Greyninja will benefit from STAB. It boasts excellent parameters with 2 damage per turn and 4.66 energy per turn. However, it has a fragile build and needs good use of Shield play along with Energy generation.
Froakie Community Day Bonuses and Research
Bonuses for the Froakie Community Day will get activated at 2 P.M. LT on August 13 and will last till 5 P.M. LT. However, in the case of trading benefits (*), the bonuses will last title 10 P.M. LT. The following event bonuses will be active:-
- 3× Stardust for catching Pokemon.
- 2× Candy for catching Pokemon.
- 2× chance for trainers above level 31 to receive Candy XL from catching Pokemon.
- Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours.
- Incense activated during the event will last for three hours.
- Encounters with unique Pokemon after taking Go Snapshots during the event
- One additional Special Trade can be made for a maximum of three for the day.*
- Trades will require 50% less Stardust.*
August Community Day event-exclusive Field Research will be available. Trainers can get additional Froakie encounters, Stardust, Ultra Balls, and more. Paid Community Day Special Research story – A Bubbly Disposition – will be available for purchase for US$1.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency). More information about the rewards is yet to be disclosed.
Frogadier Raid Boss and Shiny Froakie
Players who partake in 4-Star Frogadier Raids and successfully defeat the Bubble Frog will not only get a special encounter but also activate a unique bonus. After completing the Raid, Froakie will appear more frequently around the Gym that hosted the raid for thirty minutes. If you’re lucky, you may encounter a Shiny Froakie!
The odds of getting a Shiny Froakie are unknown since its debut will be during the August 2023 Community Day. According to rumors, the normally light blue-colored toad will appear to be either black or blue with much lighter shades. The black shiny version of Greyninja is in heavy demand from the Pokemon Go community though.
