How to get Mew in Pokemon Go?

Mew’s characteristic elusiveness in the anime can also be seen in Pokemon Go. The AR-based game has a large pool of legendary and mythical Pokemon but arguably, none are more difficult than catching the Psychic-type kitty. It cannot be hatched from eggs or found in Tier-5 Raids unlike its evolutionary form, Mewtwo.

The ‘Mythical Discovery’ Special Research is the only way to catch a Mew in Pokemon Go. Trainers can find the task by clicking the binoculars option on the bottom-left side while being in Map view. There are seven steps in the research that requires trainers to hatch eggs, spin PokeStops, evolve Pokemon, and earn EXP or Stardust. The eighth task awards the player with a mythical encounter.
