Pokemon Presents announced the release of the Paldea region into Pokemon Go. Generation 9 Pokemon will debut in the AR-based game this September and this is going to have massive implications for the meta. Niantic did not reveal the entire details for the Pokemon Go Paldea update but a few hints were given about three starters.
According to the latest news, an entire season is expected to be based around the Pokemon Go Paldean region debut. It will last till the end of the year or till December 2023. The culmination of the Season of Hidden Gems will occur on September 1, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. LT after which the hype for Paldea can take over.
Here are a few Pokemon that could debut during the Pokemon Go Paldea update.
Sprigatito
Sprigatito is a Grass-type Pokemon that is similar in appearance to Litten. Its second stage of evolution is Floragato after which it transforms into Meowscarada. Much like Serperior, Sprigatito is going to have a limited Grass-type moveset and whether it will be a meta or not will depend on its speed rather than bulk.
A dual Grass/Dark type, Meowscarada in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has access to Leaf Storm, Frenzy Plant, Solar Beam, and Hyper Beam. Go could make its Leaf Storm and Frenzy Plant the highest EPS/DPS combo to heavily popularise the Paldea region update. We will see how it fares against other Grass-types like Venusaur, Roserade, and Sceptile.
Fuecoco
Fuecoco is a Fire-type Pokemon that seems to be inspired by the design of Totodile. There is a reason why there are so many comic strips based on these two messing around with Gible. Possessing two evolutions, Fuecoco transforms into Crocalor and then Skeledirge.
The Singer Pokemon has a unique typing after transforming into Skeledirge. With access to Shadow Ball, Fire Blast, and Earth Power in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the dual Fire/Ghost type can cut through most types. It is resistant to Poison-, Bug-, Steel-, Fire-, Grass-, Ice-, and Fairy-types but has a similar amount of weaknesses, namely Ground-, Rock-, Ghost-, Water-, and Dark-type moves.
Quaxly
Quaxly is a Paldean region Pokemon that possesses Water-type qualities. Similar to other starters, it has two evolutions: transforming into Quaxwell and then into Quaquaval for its final form. The Dancer Pokemon will supposedly possess the Liquidation Charged Move as per its Scarlet and Violet counterpart.
Quaquaval is Water- and Fighting-type Pokemon that is bound to have implications in the meta if it is given a solid bulk and STAB moveset. It will be weak to Electric, Fairy, Flying, Grass, and Psychic attacks but is going to be able to annihilate predominant Steel and Ice types in the PvP Leagues.
Pokemon Go Paldean Legendaries
Although it hasn’t been confirmed yet, there is a heavy demand for the debut of Koraidon and Miraidon from the Pokemon Go community. Koraidon is a dual-type Fighting/Dragon Legendary Paradox Pokemon while Miraidon is a dual-type Electric/Dragon Legendary Paradox Pokemon.
