Pokemon Go Dark Flames Research is a new event that began on June 29, 2023, and will last until July 2, 2023, at 8 pm local time.
This event saw the debut of Mega Sableye and Turtonator, Dark Flames has all sorts of Research in store: you can complete Field Research, two Collection Challenges, and a Timed Research with two different paths.
The Turtonator Pokemon is one of the rewards for the quest and you can gain a lot of Mega Energy for Houndoom you can catch this powerful specimen during the Timed Research, in case you don’t have one.

Pokémon Go Dark Flames: Timed Research Tasks Guide
Step 1 of 4
- Walk 2 km: Pokéball x10
- Catch 2 Fire- or Dark-type Pokémon: Great Ball x10
- Catch 10 different species of Pokémon: Ultra Ball x10
- Complete all tasks in this step: Rare Candy x3, Razz Berry x5, Stardust x1,000.
After completing the first step, you can choose between Dark-type Pokémon and Fire-type Pokémon to proceed.
Step 2 of 4
- Catch 20 Dark-type Pokémon: Pokéball x10
- Power up 10 Dark-type Pokémon: Pinap Berry x10
- Make 25 snapshots of wild Dark-type Pokémon: Carvanha
- Complete all tasks in this step: XP x2,500, Pokéball x15, Stardust x1,500
Step 3 of 4
- Purify 1 Dark-type Pokémon: Great Ball x10
- Power up 10 Dark-type Pokémon: Sneasel
- Evolve 3 Dark-type Pokémon: Scraggy
- Complete all tasks in this step: XP x5,000, Premium Raid Pass x1, Stardust x2,000
Step 4 of 4
- Catch 20 Dark-type Pokémon: Silver Pinap Berry x3
- Power up 10 Dark-type Pokémon: Ultra Ball x10
- Battle in 3 raids: Houndoom
- Complete all tasks in this step: XP x7,500, Litten Candy x50, Stardust x2,500
Pokémon Go Dark Flames: Field Research tasks guide
- Catch 5 Dark-type Pokémon: Alolan Meowth, Alolan Grimer
- Catch 5 Fire-type Pokémon: Litwick, Magmar
- Win a raid in under 60 seconds: Alolan Marowak, Sneasel
- Win 3 raids: Turtonator
