Spotlight Hour is a unique event in which a particular Pokemon appears more often in the wild. Pokemon Go trainers can use these 60 minutes to stock up on Candy and upgrade the ‘spotlight Pokemon’ besides capitalising on other active bonuses. In this article, we will check the Pokemon Go Spotlight Hours for August 2023.
Rufflet, Wailmer, Rhyhorn, and Yungoos were part of the Spotlight Hours in July 2023. This month, Pokemon Go will host five such events, starting on August 1 and ending on August 29. Note that Spotlight Hour only occurs on Tuesdays beginning at 6 P.M. LT and ending at 7 P.M. LT.

Pokemon Go Spotlight Hours for August 2023
Here is the list of Pokemon that will have a higher spawn rate during the Spotlight Hour along with the special bonuses:-
- August 1 – Vulpix – 2x bonus for evolving Pokemon
- August 8 – Paras – 2x Stardust for catching Pokemon
- August 15 – Stufful – 2x XP for catching Pokemon
- August 22 – Venonat – 2x Candy for catching Pokemon
- August 29 – Tentacool – 2x Candy for transferring Pokemon
Each Pokemon will have a Shiny variant that lucky trainers can encounter in the wild during the event. Prioritize the Spotlight Hours for Stufful and Tentracruel. These Pokemon possess a dual typing that makes them ideal for trainers in the Great League.
Stufful evolution and ideal moveset for Bewear
Stufful evolves into Bewear when fed 400 Candy. Thanks to the Spotlight Hour, players will be able to register a rare Pokemon in their Pokedex by evolving it. The dual normal/fighting type could also hold its own in Great League battles.
Bewear’s main role is to counter Ghost-type Pokemon with its Normal typing and access to Shadow Claw. Pair it with either Stomp Charged Move for consistent STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) damage or Superpower for massive damage.
Even though its ability to bait Shields is none, Bewear could act as a formidable no. three due to its high defense stat. Bewear is vulnerable to Fighting, Flying, Psychic, and Fairy moves.
Tentacool evolution and ideal moveset for Tentacruel
Tentacool evolves into Tentacruel when fed 50 Candy. Its Max CP can hit the 2738 mark at Level 50, making it useful in the 2500-CP-capped Ultra League.
Tentacruel is a dual Water/Poison type that sports a decent bulk and attack and it could prove to be useful in some matchups in the Leagues.
Poison Jab Quick Move combined with Acid Spray Charged Move benefit from STAB and lures Shields from opponents. The tentacle Pokemon can also be given Ice- or Water-type tweaks due to its access to Blizzard and Hydro Pump.
However, it should ideally have a Poison-type build as it requires a low energy cost. Sludge Wave can substitute Acid Spray for more damage but it takes a longer time to access.
